According to several sites I've seen SeaMonkey cannot use the install. SeaMonkey requires an install. There is talk of SeaMonkey 2. I have not checked it out myself. Nothing I do can change this behaviour, not running Seamonkey as root, not downloading the xpi file and opening as a local file.
However, as long as the checkbox next to "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons" is checked, you'll always get this warning when you try to install an xpi manually. I've never used SeaMonkey, but it probably has similar settings. As long as you trust the site where you downloaded the xpi, go ahead and click "Install" to install the extension.
Btw, I'm assuming you downloaded this xpi file from a website. You can usually just click on the link to an xpi and automatically install it from the website without downloading it.

Problem installing Forecastfox on Seamonkey 1. I have been installing it from the Mozilla website and the process seems to proceed normally. I get a notice saying it has been installed successfully. However, when I restart Seamonkey, instead of Forecastfox appearing in the status bar a wide grey bar appears below the status bar with what appears to be code written in red letters.
